How to Get Your Home Ready for Christmas

House Covered in Christmas Lights

With Christmas just a couple of days away, it’s time to get your home
ready for all the festivities. Whether you’re hosting the whole family
this year or just having a quiet one in with your nearest and dearest,
it’s time to start prepping your home for the holiday season. And
because there’s only a few days remaining, we thought we’d share our
quick cleaning tips to help you get your home ready for Christmas as fast and
efficiently as possible.

Collect the Cleaning Supplies You’ll Need

To make cleaning easier in the main areas of your home, gather
together all the cleaning supplies you’ll need to clean the space.
Some of the main products you’ll need include:

– Anti-bacterial surface cleaning spray
– Window cleaner
– Microfibres cloths
– Hoover

These basic items are perfect for a quick home clean and mean you can
work through room by room without having to walk back and forth to the
cleaning cupboard to stock up on products.

Focus on the Main Areas in Your Home

If you’re expecting friends and family to arrive at any time and your
whole house looks like it has been turned upside down, it’s best to
prioritise the main areas. Chances are, most people will
congregate in the kitchen or the living room. So, work hard to clear up
those spaces first.

Declutter Main Areas

When prepping the main areas of your
house for Christmas, the first thing you need to do, is declutter. Grab a washing basket and fill
it with anything and everything that does not belong in your kitchen,
lounge, or guest bathroom. You can sort through it later but the main
priority is to clear it from the space. The less clutter there is, the easier it is to clean.

Clean All Surfaces

The countertops in your home will deal with a lot of use over Christmas and the New Year. From providing the space to prep the turkey and the roast
potatoes, to storing the drinks and keeping the sweet treats out of
reach of the kids, your countertops will go through a lot! And to do all of this well, the surfaces in your
home need to be clean and free from bacteria. So, ensure you give all
the surfaces and countertops in your home a spray and wipe down with an antibacterial cleaner.

Clean Your Oven Properly

To cook the Christmas turkey well, you need an oven that is sparkling
and clean. Prioritise giving your oven a thorough clean throughout,
including the shelves and a wipe down on the outside. It really will
make all the difference. If you don’t know how to clean your oven
properly, check out our previous article on cleaning your oven and all
our top tips. No time to clean your oven? Our team of professional

Polish the Silverware

Everybody likes to be a little extra fancy at Christmas time, which is
why so many of us bring out the special silverware. However, it is often the case that unused silverware is tarnished and requires a bit of sparling-up. So, set the time aside
to sit down and polish all your silver knives, forks, and spoons.

There’s nothing more satisfying than laying out your newly polished
silverware on the table in time for a the big Christmas feast!

Make Sure Your Bathrooms are Sparkling Clean

There’s nothing as gross as using a dirty bathroom and it’s certainly
not something your guests will enjoy. So, make sure your bathrooms are
sparkling clean before everyone arrives. Blitz the toilet with
antibacterial surface cleaner and scrub the bowl thoroughly with
bleach. Clean out the bath, sink, and the shower, wash the mirrors
with glass cleaner, and mop the floor. Cleaning the bathroom can be a
time-consuming job, but the fresh smell and the sparkling clean finish
makes it all worth it.

Get the Whole Family to Help

If you have a lot of people living in your home and there’s a lot of
mess everywhere, it’s not your responsibility to completely clean up
on your own. Get the whole family to help out with the chores, it will
make everything so much easier and will help get everything done in
time for Christmas Day.
