Top 10 Tips for Cleaning your Kitchen

Cleaning the kitchen is one task that most people dread, but if you’re well organised, well prepared and willing to spend five minutes a day on cleaning tasks, your kitchen will always look spotless. Take a look below our top 10 tips for cleaning your kitchen.

Clean Your Kitchen Cupboards

Keep your kitchen cupboards organised by incorporating extra shelving. You can find pull out shelving units designed to fit into an average sized kitchen cupboard that can quadruple the amount of storage space you have. Fit a carousel inside an awkward corner cupboard and you’ll not only be able to fit more into it, but also be able to reach all of your items easily.

Use Antibacterial Floor Wipes

Use antibacterial floor wipes to keep your kitchen floor sparkling and germ free. Place a wipe under each foot, then slip, slide and moonwalk your way around. Do this every morning and keeping your floor clean will take just a few minutes.

Use Linseed Oil

Metal surfaces like stainless steel can become streaky very quickly. You can keep your kitchen’s metal surfaces free from streaks by applying and then layer of linseed oil.

Keep Your Dishes Clean

Fill your sink with hot soapy water before you cook your evening meal. As you cook, place used pans and utensils straight into the sink, that way, washing up after you’ve finished won’t seem like such a tough task.

Clean Your Kitchen Splashback

When grease and grime are left to fester on tile splashbacks they can take an aeon to put right but you can stop grease and grime from sticking to the surface of your tiles by spraying them with hairspray.

Keep Your Oven Clean

Nobody wants to spend time on their hands and knees scrubbing their oven but nobody has to. You can buy lining paper to cover the bottom of your oven and simply remove it and replace it when it is dirty.

Clear the Clutter

Knick knacks can add character to a room, but they’re also great at gathering dust. If you want to keep your kitchen as clean as possible then keep unnecessary items to a minimum. Alternatively, you can use a cupboard with glass doors to display all your favourite items, which will stop them from getting dusty and dirty.

Reduce Bad Odours

Nasty niffs are a common problem in kitchens but today, many of us prefer not to use chemical sprays to try and mask them. Chop a lemon in half and place it in your microwave for 30 seconds to a minute and your entire kitchen will smell lemon fresh!

Clean Your Kitchen Windows

Keep kitchen windows streak free by buffing them with old newspaper once they’ve been cleaned. Newspaper is great for soaking up grease so it’ll make swift work of streaky windows. If you don’t want to use chemical cleaners on your windows, try a mixture of one part white vinegar to three parts warm water instead.

Increase Your Available Storage

If you’re investing in a new kitchen table then choose one which includes storage. There are lots  of great tables available with built in drawers that are ideal for keeping table dressings or even kids activities in.
